I had the pleasure of interviewing Monnix after their first time doing runway. I got to hear more about the new models background, and Monnix’s initial thoughts right after showing off FinFatale.

~

Angid

I am here with Monnix. Let’s start with you giving everyone your social medias so they can find you after this.

Monnix

You can find me on mnxlive.

Angid

And my understanding is that this is your first runway show. Is that right?

Monnix

On this level, yes.

Angid

What was it like? Tell me about your experience.

Monnix

When I first got here, it was very overwhelming. Small spaces, a lot of people, a lot of people doing their own thing, but once I found someone to kind of talk to, because I'm a person in a new city all by myself, but once I went straight into it, I was able to get more comfortable once I kind of got into the groove of it.

Angid

And what were some of the thoughts you had before going into this?

Monnix

Like before coming into New York City?

Angid

Oh right! Because you did fly in. Tell me about that first. Tell me about flying from your hometown to New York. You were by yourself, right?

Monnix

Yes. So I drove from where I live in Wisconsin down to Chicago and then flew from Chicago to New Jersey and then took a train from New Jersey to New York City, Manhattan. It was a lot, but I'm glad that I'm here, at least.

Angid

And was it scary for you first time? Driving from Wisconsin and then taking that flight by yourself to an environment that’s different to you.

Monnix

A little bit. I've flown by myself before when I've been to Los Angeles to train, um but going to a city where it wasn't meeting up with anybody that I knew, that was definitely a little scary...

Angid

And I understand that you’re a cosplayer. How is that different or similar to dressing up to runway?

Monnix

So with cosplay, you have a specific character that has its own personality, its own design that you are trying to emulate whether you want to do that for a photo shoot, or you just love the character.
Going into a modeling event like this, you don't always know what you're going to wear. They might tell you what to bring, but that's different from doing something that you can visually see that character and what they're like. Other than that, I would say it is pretty similar as long as you know how to pose, you'll be fine.

Angid

I also know that you do covers on YouTube. You do sing a little bit and we did have a live performance here tonight. Would that be something you’d be interested in in the future? Performing for a runway show or just any show in general?

Monnix

Yeah, absolutely. I'm a singer, song writer, producer dancer, anything I definitely do it, so I would be honored.

Angid

And what inspired you to do go into that? The singing and song writing?

Monnix

I have been writing songs since I was 11 years old. I have always wanted to be a musician.
And now that I'm producing and I'm writing and I'm arranging, it just - music is the language of the heart and in the mind. You can't see it, you can't taste it, you can't touch it, but yet it's still a language that everybody can speak and I think that's beautiful.

Angid

Okay, and I just wanna get your first impressions of when you were approached to do this runway, and this opportunity. What was the first thought that popped into your mind when your cousin (AEW wrestler Skye Blue) introduced you to this? What was your thought process?

Monnix

I was like, really you think that I can do this? Okay! Well, I asked her and she's like, here's some people you can reach out to. And I was already mutuals with with Eyecam. So I was kinda just like “oh my god, is this really happening? Am I gonna go out to New York and do this? If I don’t do it now, when will I ever do it?”

Angid

And would you do again after this?

Monnix

Sure, why not? I think it would be fun.

Angid

Well thank you so much for talking with me!
