Meet the Lovely Leshley

Leshley is a singer and performer who has been releasing music since 2019. I got the opportunity to speak with the young artist after the show to catch her thoughts and feelings after her performance.

Angid

I am here with a wonderful and talented Leshley, who just performed for Gotham Glamour. Tell me what your initial thought are and what's running through your mind now that you’ve performed for a runway.

Leshley

Oh my god. Everything, to be honest. I always wanted to walk in a fashion week runway, you know? And the fact that Daniel (Eyecam) hit me up to perform is actually like a dream. Be an artist and do this for real, and be apart of the fashion world. And my first time on fashion week is to perform my music… I’m in shock.

Angid

So your first initial reaction was shock and amazement when you found out?

Leshley

Yes! I was like, “are you kidding me?” Of course! And I was like, “hey, let me know what you could do for me to make things a little easier”, because I do have other things I have to put to the side to come here. But they made it happen, and now we’re here! And I feel so welcomed and made me feel really special, and I love that. I love them for that.

Angid

And now that you’ve performed on the runway, would you be more willing and excited to actually walk that runway?

Leshley

Oh yes. A thousand times, I’ll run it! I have to, you know? But yes, definitely. Seeing all the girls and their confidence, in all different sizes. It was just beautiful and super inspiring.

Angid

When you were about to perform in front of everyone in that runway, what were some of the thoughts running through your head? Because I know you’ve performed audiences before, so how is this different from your usual audience?

Leshley

I just came from vacation, so my voice is gone! So I’ve been drinking tea all day. That was my whole day. I was like “please! Don’t let me down.” But it came out pretty good, so I was happy. I was stoked. I can’t even speak right now, I’m still in the moment.

Angid

What’s on your mind when you’re performing on a stage?

Leshley

Nothing. I blank out. I ask him (Leshley’s plus one) “how’d I do?” And he says “you were there.” But in reality I was not there. I need to see the video. Because I’m up there I’m just so locked in, that my brain is just shut down and I’m just present.

Angid

So all that’s in your mind is singing? You’re not thinking, just singing

Leshley

I’m just singing, yes. I can’t even try to record it in my head.

Angid

So the audience can’t see right now, but you’re wearing this pretty orange blazer. What made you choose this for your attire tonight?

Leshley

I love bright colors. I feel like I don’t like wearing what everybody else is wearing. Everybody wants to be more dainty, more soft you know?

Angid

It’s funny because the Eyecam logo and the poster for Gotham Glamour is black and yellow, so you’re in theme.

Leshley

Are you serious? I had no idea! When I was looking through my closet, everything I picked had yellow…. I didn't even ask somebody for a second opinion. I just put it on.

Angid
