Anyone Else Binge like Crazy?

Binging media on Netflix or other streaming services isn't anything new or unique to people's lives now. But for the past two years, I've been on a mission to binge. Not on TV shows, but on cult classics and horror movie franchises. Particularly the ones that have like 7 or 8 parts. I'm sure there's a science to this but I'm just gonna discuss why I have find it satisfying.

The Box... you opened it, I came

So I started this whole journey out with Hellraiser. I had recently seen the first film released in 1987. I just found the concept of the cenobites and the box so interesting, and I loved the idea of people being so greedy or feeling like their lives lacked something that they sought out a literal item created from the depths of hell. It always amazes me to see the stupid decisions people make. Regardless, I liked the first two so much for it's concepts and gore that I went on to watch the rest of them.

Then the same happened for the Friday the 13th franchise, then I started the Alien films. I haven't finished them yet because life happens but it is definitely on my checklist. I was discussing this with someone before; about why I complete franchises like this. It's probably one or two things. Either I am a completionist, which I don't really think I am. Or the more likely option.

I think my curiosity gets the better of me and I just want to see if these franchises actually get better with time. 9 times out of 10, they don't but there's always the chance they do! But it's the intrigue of what happens to the franchise after the trilogy. The first 3 films usually have a similar vibe and style in filming, and follows the plot pretty closely. I think I want to see if there's consistency or if the franchise gets anymore campy or edgy.

Or if they maybe have any spinoff's based on said franchise. If they want to fill in any gaps in their story or give the people some fanservice. To see if it stands the test of time and if the budget just decreased more and more through each film.

If you've got the time, the curiosity, and the open mind then I would definitely say to listen to that urge. Binge that damn franchise! It's fun. The films really show their age in the best possible way.
